About CHTU

Meet CHTU

The Crown Heights Tenant Union (CHTU) is a union of Tenant Associations (TAs) that began meeting in October 2013 in response to rampant gentrification, displacement, and illegal rental overcharges in the neighborhood. There are over 40 buildings in our union that have come together to demand new, stronger protections that guarantee tenants’ rights.

Over the years we have worked together to bring our concerns and demands to our collective landlords and local officials. It is our collective duty as residents of Crown Heights, Brooklyn, NY to help educate our neighbors and speak up for all those who are unable to.

Join us at one of our upcoming meetings or actions or contact us for more information.
